Each week we feature an adoptable animal from the Adams County Humane Society. The goal of ACHS is to find loving, forever homes for every animal in our facility. They will work with you to find the right match for each animal and your family.
Follow These Steps to Adopt
1. Talk about adopting a new pet with all members of your household to confirm that everyone is on board.
2. If you rent talk to your landlord to make sure you understand their pet policies. We will call them to verify before you can adopt.
3. Preview adoptable animals on our website. Prepare questions to ask about the animals you want to meet. Call us at 608-339-6700 to schedule a time to meet with the animals you are interested in.
4. Go to the Adams County Humane Society website and complete/submit an adoption application online.
HARMONY
Harmony is an 8-year-old senior sweetheart who came to us about a month ago. She's a gorgeous, three-legged kitty who wants nothing more than to love and be loved. While she is down a leg, she doesn't let it slow her down! She loves to play and enjoys just being in the proximity of people.
Harmony's adoption fee is only $25 and it includes her spay, flea & tick prevention, deworming, microchip with registration, and her rabies and distemper vaccines! Consider giving this sweet senior girl a furever home today!
milO
MILA
This week we'd like to feature Milo (my low) & Mila (mee lah) for Whisker Wednesday!
This sweet pair of pit bulls was brought to us as strays on May 13th, and right away, we knew they were bonded.
Mila is a happy and healthy little lady with the most soulful eyes around! Milo's back legs don't work as well due to a birth defect, but he doesn't let that stop him from enjoying life to its fullest!
khaleesi
This week, we would like to feature Khaleesi! Khaleesi's family surrendered her in early April because she just wasn't integrating well into the home with their existing pets. She's roughly three years old, incredibly affectionate as long as she isn't picked up or carried, and she enjoys relaxing over any form of play. She'd do great in a quiet home without any other pets!
Khaleesi's adoption fee is $50 and that includes her spay, microchip with registration, flea & tick prevention, deworming, and all age-appropriate vaccinations. Interested individuals are invited to stop by and visit her any day between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM!
Luna
Luna is a lovely 2-year-old black kitty who came to us as a surrender in early April. She's a very vocal lap cat who loves attention from everyone. She is extremely playful and loving, but prefers not to share her family with other cats.
Her adoption fee is $50 and that includes her spay, microchip with registration, flea and tick prevention, deworming, and all age-appropriate vaccinations.
rusty
Rusty is a mixed breed that is approximately 2 years of age. He came to us as a stray just a few weeks ago and nobody ever came looking for him. He's a big ol' sweetie who loves everyone he meets, including other friendly dogs. He walks well on a leash too!
Rusty's adoption fee is $250 and that includes his neuter, microchip with registration, heartworm testing and prevention, deworming, flea & tick prevention, all of his age-appropriate vaccinations, and a certified veterinary inspection. PATCHES
Patches is a sassy tortie who is roughly 7 months old. She came to us at the end of March because her previous owner turned out to be allergic. Patches is chatty, loves to play until she is exhausted and then she becomes an affectionate lap cat.
It's $75 to adopt Patches and she would do best in a home without other animals or with a very slow introduction to the existing pets. Her adoption fee covers her spay, microchip with registration, deworming, flea and tick prevention, and all age-appropriate vaccinations.
KASH
Kash is a 5-year-old rottweiler mix who is on the smaller side at just 48.5 lbs. He's a very gentle fellow who walks well on a leash. He's looking for a home without children (well-mannered teens are okay) where he will be snuggled in lieu of rough-housing. He takes treats and commands very well.
Kash's adoption fee is $250.00 and that includes his neuter, microchip with registration, deworming, heartworm testing and preventative, flea & tick preventative, a health certificate, and all age-appropriate vaccinations.

Sharla
Sharla is a relatively new face at ACHS! We flew her in as a rescue from Texas on March 22nd. This beautiful girl is a 1-year-old Carolina dog/shepherd mix. She loves playing with other dogs and people, is incredibly affectionate, and walks very well on a leash. She's already well-adjusted and has learned several commands.
Her adoption fee is $250.00 and that includes her spay, deworming, flea & tick preventative, heartworm testing and preventative, microchip with registration, a health certificate, and all of her age-appropriate vaccinations.
maverick
We'd like to feature Maverick!
Maverick was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Missouri in early February. He's almost 4 years old and he's an American bobtail mix, meaning he has a nub for a tail and he's very sensitive about it. He is also quite affectionate and can be playful at times too.
The perfect home for Maverick is one without other cats. His adoption fee is currently only $40, which includes his neuter, microchip with registration, flea and tick preventative, and all of his age-appropriate vaccinations
spirit
Spirit is an Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd mix who came to ACHS as a stray in early November. He's just under 2 years old and is learning commands very well. On top of his good looks and his playful nature, he's incredibly intelligent and is looking for a family to challenge his mind and keep him active.
Spirit's adoption fee is $250 and that includes his neuter, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention, microchip with registration, deworming, a certified veterinary inspection, and all age-appropriate vaccinations!
gINNY
We'd love to feature Ginny! She's roughly one year old and has the perfect tortie personality. She's affectionate, incredibly soft, and loves attention, especially when there are treats involved. She is good with people of all ages and can be worked into a home with existing kitties.
Her adoption fee is only $40 right now thanks to our March Madness Kitty Special, which includes her spay, deworming, microchip with registration, flea & tick preventative, and all age-appropriate vaccines.
bear
We are featuring Bear, a rottweiler mix who came as a stray earlier this month. He is between 2 and 3 years old, very mild-mannered dog and genuinely enjoys just being in the company of people. We would encourage anyone looking to adopt him to bring their dog(s) to meet him before they commit.
His adoption fee is $250 and that includes his neuter, deworming, heartworm testing and preventative, flea and tick preventative, microchip with registration, health certificate, and vaccinations for rabies, bordetella, and distemper.
KIT- KAT
Kit-Kat came to ACHS as a heavily pregnant 8-month-old at the beginning of April 2024.
Kit-Kat is a gorgeous and affectionate 16-month-old cat who gets along well with other cats and dogs! Her adoption fee is $50 and includes all her vaccines, deworming, microchip, and spay. The ideal home for Kit-Kat would be one with other animals.
ruby
Ruby is almost 7 months old and she's a beautiful Carolina Dog/Cattledog mix. She loves playing with balls and other pups. She is currently learning to walk on a leash and is doing well.
Her adoption fee is $350, and that includes her spay; microchip with registration; deworming; preventatives, vaccines, testing and a certified veterinary inspection.
Zeppelin
Zeppelin came to us as a stray on New Year's Day. He is approximately 5 months old and cute as a button. We're not sure if he has munchkin in him, but his legs are short. He loves to play and is shy until he knows he will get pets.
The fee to adopt Zeppelin is $75, and that includes his neuter, deworming, microchip with registration, distemper vaccine series, rabies vaccine, and flea and tick preventative.
Pokey
Pocahontas, or Pokey, is a red pitbull mix who was originally in rescue in Florida. Somehow, in early December, this obedient and gentle girl was brought into ACHS as a stray. She is estimated to be between 1-to-2 years of age and is great with people, other friendly pups, and cats despite being timid around them.
Her adoption fee is $250 and that includes all of her vetting and vaccines as well as her microchip. Anyone interested in meeting this sweetheart, or any of the great adoptable animals at ACHS, is invited to visit during our new open visitation hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Delilah
Sweet Delilah is roughly two years old and was found outside of the Adams VFW by two worried teens who carried her to ACHS during the chilly second half of autumn.
Delilah is smart, playful, and super friendly with people. She needs a home with only human companions as dogs and other cats stress her out.
If you feel your home is a good fit for Delilah, her adoption fee is only $50! This fee includes her spay, vaccination for rabies and distemper, microchip and registration, flea and tick prevention, and deworming.
Thor
Thor was brought to ACHS by a Deputy at the Sheriff's Office back in March of 2024. While his beginnings at the shelter are complicated, Thor himself is not. This sweet guy is looking for a patient family who can keep pace with him.
He's energetic, loves walks, and loves playing with people or other dogs. He is also an excellent learner! He knows "sit" and "shake" and is ready to learn even more in exchange for delicious treats!
Thor's adoption fee is $250.00
Daisy Mae
Feature Daisy Mae! She's a chocolate lab mix who loves car rides, children, and other animals. She has been described as playful, social, and affectionate and we couldn't agree more. She's also crate-trained and knows how to play fetch.
The fee to adopt Daisy Mae is $250 and that includes her spay, microchip, CVI, de-worming, heartworm test and preventative, flea and tick preventative, and her rabies, distemper, bordetella, and Lyme vaccines.
